Click on the questions below to troubleshoot your connection or billing issues.
- I can't connect to the internet.
- I am using Windows NT, 95, or 3.x
- Unfortunately, we do not currently support Windows NT, 95, or 3.x.
- I am using Windows 98, 2000, XP, or Vista
- I am trying to connect to the internet with a wired adapter such as an ethernet cable.
- My network adapter status reads `connected'.
- If your network adapter status is displaying 'connected' but you still cannot connect to the internet, most likely you do not have the correct IP address. Select your operating system below and check your IP address.
- Windows XP/2000
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click RUN.
- Type 'cmd' in the text box and click OK. This will open a command prompt window.
- In the command window type 'ipconfig /all'
- Look for 'Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection'. Below that look for 'IP Address'.
- If your IP Address is not a 172.x.x.x, then there is a problem. Contact Customer Support.
- If your IP address starts with 172.x.x.x, then proceed to Step #2.
- Windows Vista
- Click on the START button in the bottom left-hand corner.
- Take your mouse pointer and click it once in the box located above the START button where it says 'Start Search'. You will then see a cursor blinking.
- Type 'cmd' in the text box and click on the magnifying glass icon or simply hit Enter on your keyboard. This will open a command prompt window.
- In the command window type 'ipconfig /all'.
- Look for 'Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection'. Below that look for 'IP Address'.
- If your IP Address is not a 172.x.x.x, then there is a problem. Contact Customer Support.
- If your IP address starts with 172.x.x.x, then proceed to Step #2.
- Windows 98
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click RUN.

- Check to make sure that you do not have a statically configured IP address or DNS. Select your operating system from below and disable the static configuration.
- Windows XP/2000
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click CONTROL PANEL.
- Under Pick a category, click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS.
- Under Pick a Control Panel icon, click NETWORK CONNECTIONS
- Locate the Local Area Connection icon, right click on it, and select PROPERTIES.
- You should now be looking at the General tab of the Local Area Connection Properties. Locate the list of items in the middle of the tab and look for INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP).
- Highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP) and click the PROPERTIES button.
- You should now be looking at the General tab of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties. Notice how the tab is divided into 2 sections. On the top half, OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY should be selected. If not, that means your PC is configured with a static IP address. Please select OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY.
- On the bottom half, OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY should be selected. If not, that means your PC is configured with a static DNS address. Please select OBTAIN DNS SERVER ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY.
- Next, click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties tab.
- Lastly, click OK to close the Local Area Connection Properties tab.
- Now launch your Internet browser and you should be redirected to your apartment complex's Welcome Page. Just follow the directions on how to setup your account.
- Windows Vista
- Click on the START button in the bottom left-hand corner, which is now the Windows icon.
- Click CONTROL PANEL.
- Under Network and Internet click on VIEW NETWORK STATUS AND TASKS.
- On the left hand margin of the Network and Sharing Center window, locate and click on MANAGE NETWORK CONNECTIONS.
- Locate the Local Area Connection icon, right click on it, and select PROPERTIES.
- If a User Account Control window pops up, just click CONTINUE.
- You should now be looking at the Networking tab of the Local Area Connection Properties. Locate the list of items in the middle of the tab and look for INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Highlight INTERNET PROTOCOL VERSION 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the PROPERTIES button.
- You should now be looking at the General tab of the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties. Notice how the tab is divided into 2 sections. On the top half, OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY should be selected. If not, that means your PC is configured with a static IP address. Please select OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY.

- Next, click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties tab.
- Lastly, click CLOSE to close the Local Area Connection Properties tab.
- Now launch your Internet browser and you should be redirected to your apartment complex's Welcome Page. Just follow the directions on how to setup your account.
- Windows 98
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click SETTINGS.
- Click CONTROL PANEL.
- Double click the NETWORK icon.
- You should now be looking at the Configuration tab. Locate and highlight TCP/IP in the middle window.
- Click the PROPERTIES button.
- You should now be looking at the IP Address tab. OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY should be selected. If not, that means your PC is configured with a static IP address. Please select OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY.
- Next, click on the DNS Configuration tab.
- Make sure Disable DNS is selected.
- Next, click the Gateway tab.
- Make sure there aren't any Installed Gateways. If there are, remove them.
- Next, click on WINS Configuration.
- Make sure Disable WINS Resolution is selected.
- Next, click OK to close the TCP/IP Properties window.
- Lastly, click OK to close the Network window.
- Now launch your Internet browser and you should be redirected to your apartment complex's Welcome Page. Just follow the directions on how to setup your account.
- Do you have a wireless NIC card? If so, make sure that it is disabled so that it does not interfere with your wired connection.
- Windows XP/2000
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click CONTROL PANEL.
- Under Pick a category, click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS.
- Under Pick a Control Panel icon, click NETWORK CONNECTIONS
- Locate the Wireless Network Connection icon and make sure the current status shows DISABLED.
- If it doesn't show DISABLED, right-click on the icon and select DISABLE.
- Now launch your Internet browser and you should be redirected to your apartment complex's Welcome Page. Just follow the directions on how to setup your account.
- Windows Vista
- Click on the START button in the bottom left-hand corner, which is now the Windows icon.
- Click CONTROL PANEL
- Under Network and Internet click on VIEW NETWORK STATUS AND TASKS.

- Refer to your wireless network adapter's documentation on how to disable it.
- Check the date and time on your computer and make sure that it is accurate. Inaccurate dates and times can potentially display expired cookies, hence not allowing you to connect to the internet with our system.
- My network adapter status reads `not connected'.
- Check to verify that your ethernet cable is plugged in firmly into the wall outlet as well as your computer. Disconnect the cable at each end then firmly reconnect it. You may also try using a different ethernet cable if you have one.
- Select your operating system below and check to see that your network card is enabled.
- Windows XP/2000
- Click the START button on the Windows taskbar.
- Click CONTROL PANEL.
- Under Pick a category, click NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS.

- Locate the Wireless Network Connection icon, right click on it, and select PROPERTIES.
- You should now be looking at the General tab under the Wireless Network Connection Properties.
- Click the Wireless Networks tab.
- The 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings' should be selected. If not, that means you're using a 3rd party software to manage your wireless networks. You'll need to refer to that 3rd party's documentation for further instruction.
- Click the View Wireless Networks button. You should now see a list of wireless networks detected by your wireless adapter.
- Now highlight the applicable wireless network and click the Connect button. If you are unsure which wireless network you're supposed to be selecting, check with your apartment community management.
- Windows Vista
- First make sure you don't have an Ethernet cable plugged in your built-in Ethernet adapter.
- Down in the bottom right-hand corner locate the two monitor icon and right click on it.
- Select Connect to a network.
- You should now see a list of available wireless networks.
- Highlight the one that is being offered by your apartment community and click CONNECT.
- Once you've successfully connected, you will get confirmation.
- If you are unsure which wireless network your apartment community is offering, please contact the apartment community management.
- Windows 98
- Refer to your wireless adapter's user manual to troubleshoot your connectivity.

- I am using a Mac.
- I am trying to connect to the internet with a wired network adapter using an Ethernet cable?
- My network adapter status reads `connected'
- If your network adapter status is displaying 'connected' but you still cannot connect to the internet, most likely you do not have the correct IP address. The instructions below are for OS X version 10.3 and above.
- Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Under Internet and Network select Network.
- From the Show pull-down menu, select Built-in Ethernet.
- You should now be looking at the TCP/IP tab.
- Under Configure IPv4, you should have Using DHCP selected. If not, select it and hit the Apply Now button located in the bottom right hand corner.
- Under IP Address, you should see '172.x.x.x.' If you have a different IP address, then you are most likely not connecting directly with a Korcett enabled network.
- Do you have a wireless network card (AirPort)? If so, make sure that it is disabled so that it does not interfere with your wired connection.
- In the top right-hand corner of the desktop just to the left of the clock you'll find the AirPort icon.
- Click on the icon and you will see the status of the AirPort listed at the top. If the AirPort is currently on, select Turn AirPort Off.
- My network adapter is missing.
- Check to verify that your ethernet cable is plugged in firmly into the wall outlet as well as your computer. Disconnect the cable at each end then firmly reconnect it. You may also try using a different ethernet cable if you have one.
- Check to see that your Built-in Ethernet
shows in the Network window.
- Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Under Internet and Network select Network.
- From the Show pull-down menu, select Network Status.
- If your PC recognizes your Built-in Ethernet adapter, it should appear in the list of available network adapters. If not, you probably have a bad network adapter.
- I am trying to connect to the internet with a wireless adapter.

- If your network adapter status is displaying
'connected' but you still cannot connect to the

- Click the TCP/IP tab.

- Check to make sure that you are connecting to the right wireless network.

- Click on the icon and you will see the status of the AirPort listed at the top. Make sure there is a check mark next to the correct SSID. If you are unsure of which SSID you should be connecting to, please contact the apartment community management.
- My network adapter is missing.
- Check to see that your AirPort appears in the Network window.
- Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Under Internet and Network select Network.
- From the Show pull-down menu, select Network Status.
- If your PC recognizes your wireless AirPort adapter, it should appear in the list of available network adapters. If not, you probably have a bad network adapter.
- My internet connection is really slow.
- Please contact customer support and be prepared to provide your name, apartment number, email address, IP address, MAC address, contact number, best time to call, and any additional details about your connection problem.
- My credit card is being declined.
- Be sure to provide the ZIP code of the credit card billing address, which may not necessarily be your service address. For example, if you are using your parent's credit card to pay for internet service, you will need to provide the ZIP code of your parent's billing address.
- My credit card was charged twice
- When checking your recent activity online, it may appear that your credit card was charged twice. However, this is not the case. Only one charge will show on your final bill and the pending charge should disappear.
- My VoIP phone is not connecting.
- You will require a public IP address for your VoIP phone. Please contact customer support and be prepared to provide your first and last name, apartment number, email address, IP address, MAC address, contact number, best time to call, and any additional details about your connection problem.
- My gaming console is not connecting.
- You may require a public IP address for your gaming console. Please contact customer support and be prepared to provide your first and last name, apartment number, email address, IP address, MAC address, contact number, best time to call, and any additional details about your connection problem.
- I need to VPN, FTP, telnet, etc.
- You will require a public IP address. Please contact customer support and be prepared to provide your first and last name, apartment number, email address, IP address, MAC address, contact number, best time to call, and any additional details about your connection problem.
